Its never easy...

I want to save towards a home, I would like to own my own property to retire in 30 years time, however its very much an almost impossible task to get one with the cheapest flat being about 12.5x my annual salary (and I have to live from that money)

But another dream has always been to have my own van, Originally I wanted to tour the country and live in it full time - But this is not very viable I don't think. I am not thinking about living full time in it - But along the lines of have a van as my main mode of transport, use it for traveling to work ect but also as our main form of entertainment.

Something like this..

Both me and my girlfriend are not the types to go out and spend money at the pub, go clubbing, own expensive phones or clothes ect - We are not materialistic at all , but we really crave the freedom a van can give.

If I'm going to work everyday and busting my ass doing a really tough job then I feel we should also have some form of fun too..

*Work hard, play hard, save hard..

I could carry on saving for the house and not get a van, but the thing is I make it to be a 10-15 year saving project, We need to live too, The van can be covered with 1 years savings and then gives us a life for the rest of the time. My head tells me that even a years savings is just to much to lose, But my heart tells me you only live once - live the life you want too!

I am seriously leaning towards buy a van first, and then save for a house. I actually know how much it would bring to our life's as in the past I Moved out and lived in a trailer for 6 weeks, we loved it! but the trailer was not strong enough to live daily. The van would be - Here's my old home on wheels!

It was a lot of fun, but had to be towed by a car and set up only on campsites, a Van in comparison can be driven and parked anywhere there is a road! Its a totally different ball game.

*Something I am passionate about

Another thing is it gives me something to blog about - something I am passionate about, something I care enough about to take the time and spend a little bit more effort on the post , because I enjoy talking about it, planning what we will do ect.

So I am going to restart blogging about saving for a van, buying parts, buying the van and then eventually how we will convert it into a dayvan/motorhome - and to be fully transparent author rewards from the blog may go towards parts for the conversion.

Im pretty excited about this, It gives me something within reach to work towards and its just a matter of time until things start moving.

I hope for you to join us along the way.
