PLEASE READ TO THE END. I HAVE A LITTLE CONTEST FOR FOR THE LEO/HIVE COMMUNITY

So today I was fortunate to be gifted 2000 hive token by @pharesim and I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you.

I have powered up half of the hive I received and bought some Leo token. Still trying to figure out what to do with the rest (maybe invest a little change in dCity).

For those of you know don't already know, there is a clampdown on crypto activities in Nigeria (which prompted pharesim to support hive community members from Nigeria). The government is spinning its propaganda on the media trying to propagate an exaggerated narrative. I came across this evening:

https://twitter.com/vanguardngrnews/status/1358437406987329540?s=19

It is comical and ironic how clueless these lots are but it our reality now. By the way, some of these big media houses are owned by politicians so it is easy to propagate their agenda.

So what's the next step?

Well, I have done the following basic things:

  • Update my social media
Change my avatar and location; I put up disclaimers (not sure how effective this is)

  • Learn how to do p2p transactions

Binance put out a quick tutorial on how to facilitate a p2p transaction and a couple of people have written posts about it. You can check out @mistakili's post on p2p transaction.

Another thing I have been considering is using a different bank account with no previous history of crypto-related transactions when carrying out p2p transactions just to be safe. So if you live in Nigeria and you've performed any crypto-related transaction with a certain account then maybe you should opt for another.

My last option if things get out of hand is to leave Nigeria. I have been planning on migrating for some time but not this early or to a neighbouring country. I have contacted my friends in Ghana; I have also spoken to my brother in Liberia about the possibility of moving there as well; I am also considering the possibility of moving to the Benin Republic. Basically, I am just keeping my options open.

Always from the drama, I am grateful for the support I have received over the last week from the community. At this point, I don't regret quitting my job. I made my last month's salary just last week from posting on hive and leofinance. Plus I am beginning to get my rhythm back. I am cultivating the habit of being genuinely interested in other people's ideas and giving feedback. GaryVee talks along about this a lot in his podcasts and it effective. I hope to continue on this path for as long as possible.

I also want to give back to the community. Earlier, put out a challenge on Twitter recently:

So I want to give 4 community members 50 hive each for talking about their crypto experience. I am looking forward to hearing from fellow Nigerians on the hive blockchain, so if you know any please mention them in the comment section. The contest ends in 7days. If you have questions don't fail to share them in the comment section.

I am looking forward to an interesting week crypto-wise. Once more I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported my blog. I appreciate the feedback and upvotes. You are the reason I can live above a system of oppression. Cheers!
