Friends, I am very excited to bring you this beautiful crocheted fabric hammock. It is the first hammock I have made in this style. Welcome, and I hope you like it.
The story of this hammock begins in 2023, two years ago. My friend Rosa was teaching a course on hammock making, and I signed up right away. I went out to buy the fabric. The next day, I arrived at her house happy with the fabric; she loved it. My husband had the rolls of thread I needed for the weaving.
I got to work and only needed my friend's guidance for the first few rounds, because I did the rest at home, although I never finished the weaving. A large part of the hammock weaving remained unfinished. I put the project away and now I've dusted it off to finish it.
For this project we need:
2 meters of fabric. The one I bought is 1.50 m wide.
1 roll of olive green nylon thread. This thread is used to make fishing nets.
2 meters of 6 mm multifilament braided rope or cord.
Sewing thread.
Knitting needles. I used a size 00 needle.
A cardboard toilet paper tube.
Spacer pins.
The steps for making the hammock are as follows:
1- Sew a hem of approximately one centimeter around the entire edge of the fabric. This can be done by hand or by machine.
2- Begin by placing single crochet stitches along the edge of one end of the fabric. This is the side where the rope loops will be placed. There is no limit to the number of stitches.
3- Make a double crochet in each single crochet. To make the first double crochet, make 3 chain stitches.
4- Start with a single crochet, which should be anchored to the toilet paper roll. Repeat this step in each double crochet of the previous row. The toilet paper roll is not enough to anchor the stitches, so they are removed and secured with separator clips or left loose.
5- To start this row, take 6 circles and join them with 6 single crochets. Repeat until the end of the row.
6- To begin this round, make a double crochet in each single crochet. From here, repeat the process as many times as desired. Close the last round with single crochets and burn the cord at the tip.
7- For the side decoration, only single crochets are used. As many as you like.
8- Cut one meter of braided cord for each rope. Thread it through the anchor points like a ribbon. Tie it with a knot and then weld it, burning the ends and joining them with the cord. Hallelujah, we're done.
I'm happy to have finished the hammock. Although you can continue crocheting the sides to decorate it. It looks very nice with that side decoration, but I didn't want to continue crocheting it because I ran the risk of putting it away again without finishing it. It really doesn't take much work and is easy, since the body of the hammock is made of fabric.

Amigos, estoy muy emocionada de traerles una linda hamaca en tela y con tejido a crochet. Es la primera hamaca que hago con ese estilo. Bienvenidos y espero que les guste.
La historia de esta hamaca comienza en el año 2023, dos años exactamente. Mi comadre Rosa estaba dictando un curso sobre la elaboración de hamacas, enseguida me anoté y salí a comprar la tela. Al día siguiente, llegué contenta a su casa con mi tela; a ella le encantó. Mi esposo tenía los rollos de hilo que necesitaba para el tejido.
Puse manos a la obra, pero solamente necesité de la orientación de mi comadre en las primeras vueltas, porque el resto lo realicé en mi casa, aunque nunca terminé el tejido. Quedó pendiente una gran parte del tejido de la hamaca. Guardé el proyecto, hasta ahora que lo desempolvé para terminarlo.Para este proyecto necesitamos:
2 metros de tela, la que compré tiene 1.50 de ancho
1 rollo de hilo de nylon de color verde oliva. Este hilo se usa para hacer redes de pesca
2 metros de cuerda o soga trenzada multifilamentos de 6 mm
Hilo de coser
Aguja de tejer. Usé una aguja número 00
1 tubo de rollo de papel higiénico
Alfileres separadoresLos pasos para la elaboración de la hamaca son:
1- Coser un dobladillo por todo el contorno de la tela, más o menos de un centímetro. Puede ser a mano o a máquina.
2- Comenzar, colocando puntos bajos por el borde de uno de los extremos de la tela. Se trata del lado donde van las cabuyeras. La cantidad de puntos no es limitada.
3- Montar un punto alto en cada punto bajo. Inicia con 3 puntos de cadena para formar el primer punto alto.
4- Iniciar con un punto bajo que debe ser anclado al rollo de papel higiénico. Repetir este punto en cada punto alto de la vuelta anterior. El rollo de papel higiénico no es suficiente para anclar los puntos, pero se van sacando los puntos y se aseguran con los clips separadores o, simplemente, se dejan sueltos.
5- Para comenzar esta vuelta, cogemos 6 círculos y los unimos con 6 puntos bajos. Repite hasta el final de la vuelta.
6- La siguiente vuelta comienza haciendo un punto alto en cada punto bajo. A partir de aquí, se repite el proceso tantas veces como se desee. Se cierra la última vuelta con puntos bajos y se quema el cordón en la punta.
7- Para la decoración lateral, solo se colocan puntos bajos. Todos los que quieras.
8- Cortamos un metro de cuerda trenzada para cada cabuyera. La introducimos al estilo pasacintas por los puntos de anclaje. Amarramos con un nudo y luego soldamos, quemando las puntas y uniendo con la cuerda. Aleluya, terminamos.
Estoy feliz de haber terminado la hamaca. Aunque se puede seguir tejiendo por los lados para decorarla. Queda muy bonita con ese adorno lateral, pero no quise continuar tejiéndola porque corría el riesgo de volver a guardarla sin terminarla. Realmente no tiene mucho trabajo y es fácil, ya que el cuerpo de la hamaca es de tela.
