This weekend I attended the birthday party of the son of one of the friends I have made here in Bogota, one of those people that life has given me and who has won my heart. Her little son, who was celebrating his birthday, is a wonderful being: intelligent, affectionate and with an imagination that never ceases to amaze me. Since we met, we have made a special connection, and he has become my great little friend.
What touched me most recently was that, without knowing how much meaning butterflies have for me, he wrote me a story he titled Vivi la mariposita. I was deeply moved, when he finishes it and gives it to me, because he has been illustrating it, I will be happy to share it here. Ramses has become a ray of light for me, especially because, although I always keep in virtual contact with my beloved nephews, the truth is that I miss them with all my heart.
I miss hugging them, laughing together, watching movies cuddled up in my bed, joining them in their games or just chatting about anything, like we used to. Video calls help, but they don't replace that warmth of the physical encounter, that affection that is transmitted with a tight hug and an accomplice look.

Este fin de semana asistí a la fiesta de cumpleaños del hijo de una de las amigas que he hecho aquí en Bogotá, una de esas personas que la vida me ha regalado y que se ha ganado mi corazón. Su hijito, que cumplía años, es un ser maravilloso: inteligente, cariñoso y con una imaginación que no deja de sorprenderme. Desde que nos conocimos, hemos hecho una conexión especial, y se ha convertido en mi pequeño gran amigo.
Lo que más me emocionó hace poco fue que, sin saber cuánto significado tienen para mí las mariposas, me escribió un cuento que tituló Vivi la mariposita. Me conmovió profundamente, cuando lo termine y me lo entregue, porque lo ha estado ilustrando, me encantará compartirlo por acá. Ramsés se ha convertido en un rayito de luz para mí, en especial porque, aunque siempre mantengo contacto virtual con mis amados sobrinos, la verdad es que los extraño con todo mi corazón.
Extraño abrazarlos, reírnos juntos, ver películas acurrucados en mi cama, acompañarlos en sus juegos o simplemente conversar sobre cualquier cosa, como solíamos hacerlo. Las videollamadas ayudan, pero no reemplazan ese calorcito del encuentro físico, ese cariño que se transmite con un abrazo apretado y una mirada cómplice.

Therefore, being able to share with this special child has been a gift to my heart. I thank life for these connections, for the shared moments and for the hope that soon I will be with my loved ones again. In the meantime, I continue to add affection and beautiful memories in this country that has been my home for the past few years.
Por eso, poder compartir con este niño tan especial ha sido un regalo para mi corazón. Agradezco a la vida por estas conexiones, por los momentos compartidos y por la esperanza de que pronto volveré a estar con los míos, mientras tanto, sigo sumando afectos y memorias hermosas en este país que ha sido mi hogar en los últimos años.
