I was just talking with a friend of mine about cryptocurrencies and fiat (money) and the debate was that which is real and which is an illusion. It is easy to say (or it was) about cryptocurrencies that they are an illusion as you couldn't buy many things from real life with them. But that seems to change and mass adoption is on its way and we see more and more use cases in real life. So while in the begging, looking from the outside and without knowing any information about it, there were voices saying that crypto is an illusion, but lately that become as real as fiat is.

How could an illusion become real in such a short time? It is all about perception and how people are seeing and evaluating their trust in a financial system. It is about how people choose to see it and we see more and more having their eyes wide open and understand that the tradition financial system which is centralized and printing FIAT whenever they want to, simply takes the value out of your pocket and fills up others with it. And that can happen while you sleep and others deciding your destiny.

Cryptocurrencies have the advantage of being decentralized and being programmed with a supply in mind. That alone should ensure that 1 TOKEN today will be values as 1 TOKEN tomorrow. And with the latest governance tokens that are starting to be launched in different blockchains, simply ensure that you have a saying in future developments or even funds allocation. Things start to take shape and decentralization puts the power back in people hands, rather than having to witness unilateral decisions.

On the other side I must confess that my view on this is that the future is not one way or the other, but rather a system that will intertwine the both of them. Things will get more complex and probably we'll see a world revolution for moving from traditional finances towards more decentralized services. But it will not be an easy one as the countries will always want to keep things centralized, thus we'll need to see where this goes. We could witness also social revolts as the crypto adoption phenomena will scale up and resistance from centralized authorities might push back and we need to be ready for everything. But for sure this will happen and it is quite REAL...and not an illusion as some out there might still think...
