Unlike the last time that I opened about 59 Chaos Legion packs and found one gold foil legendary, today I had shitty luck. I got a grand total of zero gold foil legendary but I did get a few legendary monsters.

I know it is all down to luck but this was not what I was planning for. Then again, it is not wise to plan with something that's based on random coincidence, so I guess it was always a stretch.

This was definitely not my day but on a slightly more positive note, at least I got some decent monsters. I've also decided to pull out of the rental market and go back into doing battles.

The Network lagged

If you watch my pack purchase and opening video, you'll notice that it was mildly glitchy.

I have to say that I'm really impressed by how SPlinterlands servers have been handling the workload so far.

I was able to open 110 packs in this short space of time. Interestingly, there was no sound during the pack opening ceremony but I guess that can't be helped.

Right now, it will take a while to process Splinterlands credit. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I had to wait in a queue to get Splinterlands credit. I ended up waiting for about 20 minutes but the credit eventually showed up.

There's an insane rush to get these packs right now, so it is expected. This sort of makes me feel like my initial plan to open packs, sell off some monsters and then buy back wasn't exactly well thought out because I envisaged glitchiness but not quite as fucked up as it is today.

Anyway, I'll be waiting for my credit to come and then I'll buy 100 more packs. Sadly, I only have 3 vouchers right now, so I'll just wait a few days until I have enough vouchers

Staking more SPS

Speaking of vouchers, the need for them has led me to stake more SPS tokens. This has gotten my grand total of a little over 9K SPS tokens staked.

In a few days, I'll also get to be one of the cool kids and have 10K SPS staked. I had to resist the urge to convert my SPS tokens to Credit. Other than earnings from my publications, I converted DEC instead.

Sadly, this had a negative impact on my daily SPS airdrop but that's okay. The packs I'm going to buy and monsters that I sell will compensate for any DEC that I use to pay.

Back to battling

The other news is that I've decided to get back to participating in Splinterlands battles. To do this, I decided to pull out all my cards from the rental market and now, I'll focus on battles again.

My collection power is enough to get me up to Gold 2 league. Slow and steady, I'll battle my way back up the ladder.

I don't intend to be religious about it but I will ensure that I reach maximum rank and do at least 7 days of daily quests every season.

One of my main motivations for returning to battle is that I want to start accumulating DEC faster. I also find the rental market to be quite boring for me.

It is rewarding to just earn DEC every day without lifting a finger but I can't continue like that. I want the action back in my life.

I'm also excited about the new set of monsters and look forward to the challenge of devising strategies to combat with and against them. Some of the abilities are really fresh and they have the potential to be game-changers.

Other than ranked battles, I also miss participating in guild brawls. I've not been active in my guild, and it sort of feels like I'm letting them down. Now that I'm slowly coming back, at least I'll be able to go hard in battles once again and play my part.

What about the remaining packs

As I've said on a number of occasions, I intend to hold 500 packs at the end of the sales. I also intend to officially open 500 packs. Right now, I'm still 637 packs away from my target.

I have stacked up another $400 towards pack purchases. I'm still waiting for my vouchers to meet up with the amount of credit I have at my disposal.

I'll be adding to my DEC stack as more of my assets get sold on the market. I'll also be redirecting funds from post earnings and my other ventures towards pack purchases.

At the time of writing, we're already about 54% close to the release of the next NFT airdrop. I managed to get 275 packs in the first 24 hours. The magic number is 300, so that is also on my mind.

Buing in bulk assures you of bonuses but since I'm targeting the airdrop, I'll buy 25 more today. Later on, I'll buy more packs in bulk.

The target is 1k packs at the end of the day. Will I get there? Only time will tell.
