Another late night. Weird dreams fending off flood waters. Another house inspection - two days in a row. Made my escape to go walking and shopping before the estate agent arrived. The more I observe, the less I like. Headed to a different slice of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP to get away from anything routine
Walked a new track not walked before - the track has had a recent hazard reduction burn - no orchids likely but there were other flowers
Walked to Slade's Lookout first. Named after one of the early protagonists for creating a national park
This is perfect evidence of a recent fire. Lobelia dentata were everywhere are triggered by bush fire
Second day for seeing purple fan flowers - there were quite a few
View from the lookout is over Bibbin Head Marina - that took me by surprise. So often I am looking up to this spot from down below
Wide screen view takes in a bit more of the park around Bobbin Head Inn
This lobelia dentata plant was way taller than the other. Flower looks the some other than the lobe in the centre is opened out
The butterfly landed and flapped wings open a few times to make the photo work
Lots of dampiera purpurea
No orchids in the burned section. Found this one in the section burned maybe two seasons back - maybe a bearded orchid
A flash of bright white - common name is wedding bush
Did find a flowering orchid in that same slice of bush - lesson is the orchids take a few seasons to come back
Red bearded orchid - calochilus paludosus
Always fun the decide how to frame double header - focus where?
Sundew flower
Turned up Culamine Fire Trail - also nit worked before. A few bearded orchids on the way up the hill past the houses.
Hibbertia - not sure how the blurry bit happened. Did notice at photo time - did not take another photo to correct it. Photo works
Not seen this before - can tell it is an iris. Lookup says it is Aristea ecklonii - not a native but from South Africa. The houses are close by - escaped from there
A different bearded orchid at the top of the hill - copper bearded orchid - calochilus campestris
Lambertia formosa
View from the top of the hill - tall buildings highlighted. Not sure without a map knowing which they are - seems too far north for Chatswood
Context photo. I have been at the other end of this fire trail where it intersects with the Perimeter Trail. Nice to walk an unknown trail and to find new orchid spots. Was surprised to not see any sun orchids
Did the shopping. They were quiet given it is school holidays. Lesson: shop at lunch time
Was there stuff done? Yep - always
Got the investing post out - a little research on uranium for this week
Dinner: Sushi bought at shops. Good to not have to think This report was published via Actifit app (Android | iOS). Check out the original version here on actifit.io
