This spec does not mean much too me, but I am told it is a massive upgrade to what I had before.

This morning I took the one hour drive to Pretoria to go and collect my new laptop. This was an unexpected purchase as I had been hoping my laptop would last another 6 months and then I could plan this a little better. Nothing ever works according to plan on our time lines and I should have known better. This is an investment in HIVE in an around about way that should keep me active for many more years to come.

I phoned ahead of my arrival which i was guaranteed it was an off the shelf item only to find out on my arrival it would take 45 minutes to add the 16 GIG Ram. The photo I took from the coffee hut conveniently situated on the side of the car park and I guess this happens frequently.

What amazed me is this computer warehouse/shop is situated in the middle of nowhere with other industrial buildings and the amount of customers that came and purchased items was mind blowing. My son and I were trying to work out the turnover taking place and eventually gave up after counting more than 30 customers all buying more than 1 item of computer gear.

Most businesses are online based these days and courier vehicles were streaming in and out collecting orders. The prices are very reasonable compared to other retail stores and my laptop was marked down on a special by 30% and cost roughly $800. I have no idea what this costs in other parts of the world, but I thought it was a decent enough price to grab one immediately.

The only part I was concerned about was the keyboard as I did now want a lit keyboard or anything fancy as the last laptop the keyboard was replaced 3 times and was in bad shape again. After checking the model and comparing it to other makes this keyboard actually looked superior to what I have had before and had no hesitation in completing the purchase.

The salesman was a bit taken a back by me checking the keyboards out and inquired why. When I told him this is not for gaming and will be used for blogging only he had never come across anyone complaining about keyboards before. I plan to add a separate keyboard as well and another screen so I will be able to look after this far better and not to let HIVE abuse this one.

Without too much effort the new laptop is up and running and has already completed 2 posts. I did not realise how bad my old one was and you just cannot compare as this is so much better. I think I had taken it to it's limits and it was on it's last legs.
