Yikes!
Clearly I've been slacking hard recently during these trying times. I've been out of the loop on several bits of drama and haven't been keeping up on current events or the blog posts. These things happen. My hyper-focus has been directed elsewhere for the time being. These things happen. Did I already say that? These things happen.
I must be going through one of those classic depressive episodes. Although if someone asked me if I was depressed I'd probably say no. That seems to be a theme. Then again actions speak louder than words and my ability to kill time knows no limits! I'll crawl out of this weirdly shaped hole sooner or later.
So what's up with me?
I was gonna write a post a while back about getting eyeglasses. I got them a few months back. I've actually never gotten my eyes checked before which was a weird realization having to do it for the first time so late in life. Turns out my eyesight is actually still pretty decent so maybe that explains the delay. These glasses have a very light prescription and are basically just fancy reading glasses with a really good blue blocker coating. I can now once again read extremely fine print without having to go cross-eyed.
At first I was pretty worried that they were kind of a sizeable waste of money because they took a minute to get used to. For a while I was thinking they'd just sit on my desk as a paperweight due to how dizzy they made me and also completely blurred my periphery vision. They are reading glasses after all. Having to take them on and off as I ADHD around the house was pretty annoying but it's fine now.
I will say that these glasses have been pretty awesome in the long term. My eyes are no longer strained like they were before. The blue-blocker coating cost $140 which basically doubled the price of the eyewear but totally worth it as that was the entire point. Blue light really messes me up apparently.
Hm what else...
Getting new glasses wasn't exactly a full post worth of material which I why I never wrote about it until now. Hm... I bought some Hive a couple hours ago. Realized that it's actually ever so slightly below my buy target of 250 sats. Wish I could do more but alas only 4000 shekels.
Alts are looking very bottomed out right now but my target was to wait for mid April and we are still a week away from that. I could see Bitcoin tapping $72k no problem, but we are getting so close to my target I have to admit that Sunday fuckery could have easily been the bottom. Then again as I write these words we are slowly descending back down so maybe I eat them words... well not really because the target is mid April but you get the idea. April and September are often very good months to buy if you can find an opening. Of course nobody wants to hear that because...
What else?
Ah well I've been absolutely obsessively playing a couple of video games. Usually I'd write a post about the games I was playing just because it's easy to write about the hyperfocus but my post payouts reflect that my readers do not approve of such nonsense. So I'll just list some titles: Last Epoch (a game I bought an weirdly never played). Unraveled 2 (pretty cool casual co-op platformer). Dungeon Keeper (an objectively terrible nostalgic game that I played back in straight up middle-school in the 90s). I might actually do a post on Unraveled 2 one of these days because it's not a game I thought I'd like but it's pretty great for what it is. Oh yeah I also bought Cult of the Lamb but my role on that one is as a +1 support for when my girlfriend plays it. Weird mix of cutesy + death-cult that one.
What else what else?
Hmmmmmmmmmm well the whole tariff still seems to be going full strength. I've got a SNL episode behind me telling me that "tariff stands for terrific!" Fun little controlled demolition we got here and Bitcoin is still higher than when Trump took office... so that's interesting. If I'm being honest I'd be a lot more worried if I owed stocks... as crypto always bounces back immediately when oversold but stonks can take years to get back to business. Certain level of irony seeing Tesla being down 42% year to date but also still up 28% over the last 12 months. Money isn't real, fam!
But what if bear market?
I mean considering BTC bear markets only last 12 months we've already made it for the first 3 if so! Silver lining amirite? I highly doubt that's a thing though considering the situation we find ourselves in. Pretty hard for number to crater when it's already pretty low and everyone braces for impact. More likely this tariff nonsense breaks something major in the economy and they have to turn the money printer on harder and faster than they ever have before (seems to be a theme that every time from here on out is the biggest liquidity event only to be surpassed by the next).
If they value of everything is being diluted then where do you put your money? From this perspective Bitcoin is just as good as any other option... unless you want to go full prep mode and buy a greenhouse and a farm with guns and ammo. How many people actually have that option though? Less than 1% of the population for sure... and thus far that's a strategy that has never worked.
Conclusion
Am I back?
Yes I totally back!
I think I said that last time though.
For realzies this time though.
These things happen.
