As it was quite a warm day, I knew the perfect spot for an early morning walk. I managed to find a parking place at my chosen place at the beginning of the lane in a little village not too far from where I live. As soon as I got out of my car, the familiar pungent smell of wild garlic hit me.
The footpath takes me behind some quaint stone cottages. There are garlic plants all along the path. The white flowers looked really pretty.
At the fork in the path, I walked down the public footpath next to the stone cottage, which takes me along the River Amber.
In the past, the river served the old water mills in the area.
At the end of my walk I came to the ancient clapper bridge known locally as 'Abraham's Bridge' built from flat stone slabs. The bridge would have allowed people and carts to cross over the river back in the day. It is nice to see little parts of history like this.
I could have walked further along but the path just takes you uphill onto the road. It was a lot prettier just retracing my steps back along the river.
I did stop on the way back home to take a few photos of the sheep and their lambs.
