We humans are always curious to temper with what we do not know. We ignore our intuition and go ahead to let our curiosity lead the way. It doesn't always end well and we always tend to get into trouble that is far bigger for us to handle. Then, the trouble ends up affecting those around us. I don't know about other people but for me, I don't delve into things I don't know. I would rather observe from afar.

This movie, 'Talk To Me (2022)' is a perfect example of what I just described above about human curiosity. I first got to know about this movie when I read @lauracraft review on it. The story seemed interesting from the way she described it in her post so I decided to give it a chance. Was it worth my time? Oh yes! It was and I enjoyed the movie.

'Talk To Me (2022)' is an Australian indie supernatural horror film that was directed by Danny and Michael Philippou. It was written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman. The story of the movie centers around a group of teenagers who just obtained a strange embalmed hand of a gypsy. With this embalmed hand they could contact the spirit of the dead. It starred Sophie Wilde, Miranda Otto, Joe Bird, Alexandra Jensen, Zoe Terakes, Jayden Davison and Sunny Johnson.

This movie started with a heart gripping scene that won me over to stick around till the end. At a house party, a boy named Cole was searching for his brother Duckett to take him only to find him speaking gibberish. As he attempted to convince him to take him, Duckett stabbed him in the shoulder and later stabbed himself in the eye. This incident brought the house party to an end.

On the other hand, a 17 year old girl, Mia, was emotionally unstable because it was the second anniversary of her mother's death by overdose. Later that day, Mia went to pick up her friend's younger brother Riley. Before the end of the day, Mia, her friend Jade and Riley snuck out to a secret get together that is hosted by Hayley and Joss. In this gathering, some teenagers gather together to watch how a mysterious embalmed hand is used to summon ghosts for the fun of it.

Mia volunteered to be the first person to use the embalmed hand which will be for 90 seconds according to the hosts to avoid permanent possession. So Mia went ahead and held the hand then she said "Talk to me" and "I let you in", not long a spirit possesses Mia. One thing led to another and Mia spent more than 90 seconds holding the hand. What happens next is much more gruesome.

My Review And Rating.

In horror movies we have seen many times what happens when they mess around with strange or haunted things. A lot of gruesome things happen and the ending is not always palatable. That is the case of this movie. Even though we have since this particular storyline done over and over again, Talk To Me portrayed this storyline from a fresh perspective which makes this movie unique and different from others alike.

The directors did a fantastic job with this movie. The storytelling was good, I love the suspense was drawn intensively which targets to hike the anxiety of the viewer. The scene arrangements are amazing, especially the opening scene which was heart gripping, unexpected and shocking. The first of this movie won me over because if the first scene was like that what happens throughout the movie. It got me anxious and excited to see the movie till the end.

Also, I love how the directors coordinated the sounds to match with each scene which gave all the scenes in the movie the right tone and mood. It was brilliant. The cinematography was excellently done. All the dark scenes were crafted and filmed well. They didn't make all the CGI or edits divert from the originality of the story. The scenes with the hand were filmed well with the proper drawn out tension which is scary. It made me anxious because I thought the hand would come alive at some point in time. It was also unpredictable.

This is my first time watching an Australian based movie and I can say it very much captures the modern Australian young generation very well. The Cast were amazing, though I am not familiar with most of them except for Miranda Otto who I have seen in 'Lord Of The Rings and I, Frankenstein'. The performance was amazing, especially the lead actress Sophie Wilde. Her performance was convincing though I was annoyed with her character at times, she still was the star of the movie.

Lastly I was surprised when I found out that the budget of this was extremely low but the directors gave us an outlook of a masterpiece or a high budget film. Everything about this movie was well done in my opinion considering the budget. I didn't expect it. The concept, the cast, cinematography, the location, the CGI, it was all executed well. But I found one flaw, the ending wasn't satisfactory to me because at times I was lost and confused. The ending was weak for me.

Rating this movie, I will give it 8 out of 10 stars. It was a thrilling ride for me. I enjoyed it, it was entertaining and it fulfilled the mark of a good horror film. Have you seen this movie before? Did you enjoy watching? I recommend it to my horror genre lovers. If you are easily triggered DO NOT watch this movie.
