Helena, an Angel Of Light, kneels in sorrow before the grave of a young Khymian she could not save. Angel of Light’s have the power to resurrect the dead, but it is not unlimited or without fault. As a sign of mourning, she folds her wings within themselves, symbolizing a collapsed soul.

Using Daz3d Studio and Photoshop

Genesis 8 Female.JPG
Started with a Genesis 8 Female Template.

Angel of Light 8.JPG
After completing most of the model, I put her into the empty scene.

Angel of Light 7.JPG
I added hair, eyebrows and eyelashes, and wings.

Angel of Light 6.JPG
I then added graves, crypts and head stones… with mourning decorations.

Angel of Light 5.JPG
I then added a gate and trees.

Angel of Light 4.JPG
I added color and texture to the scene.

Angel of Light 3.JPG
I did a pre-render so you can see the other changes.

Angel of Light 2.JPG
I added an orange/yellow point light in front of the headstone to better illuminate the model.

Angel of Light.jpg
I added a narrow spotlight above the model…to give her some rim light.

In photoshop, I increase the exposure in the highlighted areas, to enhance the model and the grave. (Final Render)

Tools and assets used:

Daz3D Studio, Iray and Photoshop
Genesis 8 Female Template
Blair Hair
Morningstar Wings
Belladonna Dress and Choker
HDRI and Daz3D Lighting
Day of the Dead Cemetery Environment

In Summary:

  • I start out with a model template and morph the body physically.
  • I put the body into a position, change facial expressions, add makeup, dress the model, add skin texture, props, etc…
  • I either can embed the character into the background or wrap the environment around the character, then add lighting and camera settings, like depth of field.
  • Rendering time was about 3 hours.
  • Postwork in Photoshop (adding imperfections in the skin, changing atmosphere and lighting, etc…)

Stay frosty people.
