The state of La Guaira in Venezuela never ceases to amaze us. Every space that has been restored and put to use for tourism invites us to enjoy everything, at any age and at any time.
The Macuto promenade
It is one of the first boulevard-style constructions that welcomed thousands of local, national, and foreign tourists for many years, especially in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. As a 100% Caribbean country, it was a meeting point to share, dance, enjoy the sea, and stay a few days in its hotels if you preferred.
The locals tell me that in 2000, it began to decline in structure and in offering that fun to everyone, so those times of prosperity were only remembered for many years.
But not anymore! Since last year, it has been restored and has taken on the same form as in the years of its creation, offering fun for locals and visitors alike. The best part? It's low cost, very low cost.
Fact: I'll divide it into three parts... The last one is the best 😊.
El estado de La Guaira en Venezuela no deja de sorprendernos; Cada espacio que está recuperado y puesto al servicio del turismo, nos invita a disfrutar de todo, en cualquier edad y a cualquier hora.
El paseo de Macuto
Es una de las primeras construcciones en forma de bulevar que recibió a miles de turistas locales, nacionales y extranjeros durante muchos años, sobre todo en los 70, 80 y 90. Como un país 100% caribeño, era un punto de encuentro para compartir, bailar, disfrutar del mar y quedarse unos días en sus hoteles si era su preferencia.
Me cuentan los lugareños, que en el 2000, fue decayendo en estructura y ofrecimiento de esa diversión a todos, por lo que esas épocas de bonanzas, solo quedaron en el recuerdo por muchos años.
¡Pero ahora no! Desde el año pasado, lo recuperaron y ha tomado esa misma forma de los años de su creación, ofreciendo diversión para propios y visitantes ¿Lo mejor? A bajo costo, muy bajo costo.
Dato: Lo dividiré en tres partes... La última es la mejor 😊.
The promenade
What can I say, it's spectacular. It has parking from 6 a.m. to midnight, so there's plenty of time to enjoy everything it has to offer.
From the morning onwards, it offers fun with its beach, food, music, and activities for all ages.
The sunset is dreamlike, one of the most beautiful you'll ever see.
At night? We arrived at the promenade around 7 p.m., and there were people leaving the beach, people arriving, and people staying at the hotels. Take precautions!
As we walk along the boulevard, we can find many things: places to eat, drink, dance, and socialize; plenty of space to ride bikes; sculptures and murals to photograph; hotels and hostels that offer tourist packages so you can sleep on the promenade; and courts and stadiums for playing sports such as soccer or baseball, which are very popular with the community.
Another thing I liked was the space with tables for mind games, where you can spend hours and hours playing and training your mind.
So how could you not go to the boulevard?
El paseo
Que les puedo decir, es un espectáculo. Cuenta con estacionamientos, desde las 6 de la mañana hasta las 12 de la noche. Así que es tiempo suficiente para disfrutar de todo lo que se hace allí.
Desde la mañana, ofrece diversión con su playa, comida, música y actividades para todas las edades.
El atardecer, es de sueño; uno de los más bonitos que existen.
¿De noche? Nosotros llegamos al paseo a eso de las 7 de la noche y había gente que venía saliendo de la playa, gente que estaba llegando y gente que se estaba quedando en los hoteles ¡Tome sus precauciones!
Mientras caminamos el bulevar, podemos encontrar muchas cosas: locales para comer, beber, bailar, compartir; mucho camino para usar bicicletas; esculturas y murales para las fotografías; hoteles y hostales que te ofrecen paquetes turísticos para poder dormir en el paseo; cuenta con canchas y estadios para practicar los deportes como futbol o beisbol, que son muy apreciados por la comunidad.
Otra cosa que me gustó, fue el espacio de mesas para juegos mentales, por lo que allí se puede pasar horas y horas jugando y entrenando la mente.
Así que ¿Cómo no ir al paseo?
Bars
I am very Caribbean, I love dancing, drinking, and having a good time with the people I love. As long as I have energy and vitality, believe me, I will do it, so what I liked most about the trip were the bars.
The vibe is indescribable. To put it in context, in the past, these would have been places of fights, people stealing, and prices that were unaffordable for consumers. That history has changed, because now people dance, enjoy themselves, have drinks, sing, greet others without knowing them, are very respectful, and the service is tailored to your needs. In my case, I asked for several specific things in terms of drinks and food, and they were very kind in responding to my requests. I definitely had a great time there.
As for the music, it is very varied, and I saw young people and adults dancing to the tropical and contemporary rhythms they play. There are also live bands, but that night it was only recorded music. I can say that the people who enjoyed dancing the most were the seniors, who are highly appreciated by the community for their ease and skill on the dance floor.
The prices are very affordable, and we got 12 beers for $10, but if you want to bring your own drink and just sit back and enjoy the music, you are also welcome, because being on the promenade is FREE!
Bares
Yo soy muy caribeña, me encanta el baile, la bebida y pasarla bien con las personas que quiero. Mientras tenga energía y vitalidad, créanme que lo haré, así que lo que más me gustó del paseo fueron sus bares 😎.
La vibra es indescriptible. Para colocarlos en contexto, en otros tiempos hubiese sido espacios de peleas, gente robando, precios inalcanzables para el consumo. Esa historia cambió, porque ahora la gente baila, disfruta, toma sus bebidas, canta, saluda a los demás sin conocerlos, son muy respetuosos, la atención es de acuerdo a las exigencias que tengas. En mi caso, pedí varias cosas específicas en la bebida y comida, y fueron muy amables al momento de atender mis solicitudes. Definitivamente, la pasé genial allí.
En cuanto a la música, es muy variada y pude ver a jóvenes y adultos, bailando los ritmos tropicales y actuales que colocan; también hay agrupaciones en vivo, pero esa noche solo música grabada. Puedo decir, que los más que disfrutaban el baile eran las personas de tercera edad, que son muy apreciados por la comunidad por su soltura y desenvolvimiento en la pista de baile.
Los precios son muy económicos y conseguimos cervezas en 12 por $10, pero si usted quiere llevar su bebida y sentarse a solo disfrutar la música también es bienvenido, porque estar en el paseo ¡ES GRATIS!
The beach... At night
Wow! Wow! Wow!
And at this point, would you dare to go swimming at night?
This was the first thing that attracted me to the Macuto promenade; I had seen on social media that the beach at night is the only one in the country where you can swim until midnight.
I loved seeing families, especially children, enjoying the sea at that time. You can bring your drinks and food and enjoy the beach as if it were 10 a.m. because everything is FREE! At that time, you can make use of the space if you bring everything you need to enjoy yourself.
It's an attraction because, as I mentioned, there are hotels nearby, and people stay in them just so they can go to the beach at that time. They also have bonfires and traditional dances with drums, but that night we were only accompanied by the hustle and bustle of the boulevard.
I couldn't go swimming, so I'll make a note of it for my next visit 😉.
La playa... De noche
¡Wao! ¡Wao! ¡Wao!
Y llegado a este punto ¿Te atreverías a bañarte de noche?
Esto fue lo primero que me atrajo del paseo de Macuto; lo había visto por las redes sociales que la playa de noche, es la única permitida en el país para bañarse hasta la media noche.
Me encantó ver a las familias, niños, sobre todo, disfrutando del mar a esa hora. Puedes llevar tus bebidas, comidas y disfrutar de la playa como si fueran las 10 a. m. porque todo es ¡GRATIS! A esa hora puedes hacer uso del espacio, si llevas todo para disfrutar.
Es un atractivo, porque como mencioné que hay hoteles cerca, las personas se quedan en ellos solo para poder ir a la playa en ese horario. También ponen fogatas y bailes tradicionales como tambores, pero esa noche solo nos acompañó el bullicio propio del bulevar.
Yo no me pude bañar, por eso queda anotado para mi próxima visita 😉.
Final words
I recommend it as a tourist destination because of its low cost, the sense of security it exudes, the attentive service providers, the many activities you can do, and the wonderful experiences you'll have to share afterwards.
That said, you have to go with the right attitude, because if you don't like noise, shouting, or loud music, then this place is not for you 😊.
