La fotografía de teatro en la Sala del Grillo de Atabanza siempre desafía: manejar la luz, enfocar y no dejar pasar el momento, tiene sus complejidades. A pesar de ello, busco la manera de aprovechar lo más que pueda la puesta en escena durante todo el espacio de tiempo que me permita la obra. Mi argumento se basa en sacar imágenes que representen la narrativa de la obra, y que nos dé la idea de la experiencia que se vivió en cada instante del relato. Este grupo teatral ha llamado mucho mi atención desde la primera vez que los vi. Su puesta en escena es muy minimalista, donde la energía se centra en la actriz.
Theater photography at the Sala del Grillo de Atabanza is always challenging: managing the light, focusing and not letting the moment go by, has its complexities. Despite this, I look for ways to take advantage of the staging as much as I can for as long as the play allows. My argument is based on taking images that represent the narrative of the play, and that give us the idea of the experience that was lived in each moment of the story. This theater group has caught my attention since the first time I saw them. Their staging is very minimalist, where the energy is focused on the actress.
La obra está apoyada en una novela de un escritor colombiano, que narra la historia de una prostituta. El escenario minimalista enfatiza la atención en el personaje, destacando sus expresiones, donde las luces y las sombras resaltan la caracterización de la interpretación. La presencia de la actriz en este espacio reducido hace que se resalte la fuerza de la expresión corporal. Revelar en Blanco y Negro, por lo regular, dramatizan las expresiones, la escenografía y las texturas, otorgando mucha fuerza a las imágenes.
The work is based on a novel by a Colombian writer, which tells the story of a prostitute. The minimalist stage emphasizes the attention on the character, highlighting her expressions, where lights and shadows highlight the characterization of the interpretation. The presence of the actress in this reduced space brings out the strength of the body expression. Revealing in Black and White, usually dramatize the expressions, scenery and textures, giving a lot of strength to the images.
Durante la obra, logré apreciar cierta intensidad y detalles particulares en la interpretación del personaje. En la búsqueda por capturar esas imágenes hubo muchos intentos fallidos, aunado a la incertidumbre por si se volvían a presentar en lo que quedaba de la puesta en escena. Una vez más, este tipo de sesiones fotográficas teatrales, me mostró el poder del minimalismo. A pesar de que este estilo de fotografía me agrada mucho, en el teatro, desconozco por qué me cuesta un poco. Hago el mejor el esfuerzo por narrar la obra desde la foto fija; por fortuna, hasta el día de hoy, siempre termino sacando la sesión adelante.
During the play, I was able to appreciate certain intensity and particular details in the interpretation of the character. In the search to capture those images there were many failed attempts, coupled with the uncertainty of whether they would be presented again in the remainder of the staging. Once again, this type of theatrical photo shoot showed me the power of minimalism. Although I like this style of photography very much, in the theater, I don't know why I find it a bit difficult. I make the best effort to narrate the play from the still photo; fortunately, to this day, I always end up pulling the session off.
Hacer los registros de las obras en la Sala del Grillo de Atabanza siempre ha sido una oportunidad de oro para mí; son muchas las enseñanzas visuales que quedan como aprendizaje. El ejercicio se convierte en centrar la atención en las expresiones que caracterizan la interpretación del personaje, obviamente, desde mi punto de vista e interpretación de la imagen. Una vez más se expresa el poder de la imagen, una comunicación silenciosa, que, en muchos casos, no necesita muca explicación.
Making the records of the works in the Sala del Grillo de Atabanza has always been a golden opportunity for me; there are many visual teachings that remain as learning. The exercise becomes focusing attention on the expressions that characterize the interpretation of the character, obviously, from my point of view and interpretation of the image. Once again the power of the image is expressed, a silent communication, which, in many cases, does not need much explanation.
