Classes are nearing to an end and this is quite the perfect time to finally make our plans into reality, in Cebuano we say "Na coloran na gyud intawn ang drawing", which basically means our drawings - or our plans are finally been colored - or brought to life. We finally headed on to our plan we have been dreaming for quite some time already. A chance to travel to visit our neighboring town, Balamban. A small town located in the MidWest of Cebu Province.
From the town we are in now, Tuburan, we traveled approximately an hour before we reached Balamban town proper. From Tuburan, we will travel Asturias, then the town of Balamban. As I mentioned on my previous blogs, Tuburan is a town with no fast food chains and no department stores, so if you want to go to one, you have to visit Balamban or Toledo City to enjoy your favorite fast food chains or go to shopping in department stores like Gaisano Grand and Super Metro.
Since we have our own car, there is no need for us to go on commute, but if you have no access to own modes of transportation, you can catch a bus ride from Tuburan Public Terminal just near Tuburan Public Market which has rides going to Balamban and Toledo City and Cebu City as well via bus or via van for hire.
For the first order of business, we had dinner at our favorite Jollibee. We do not have this in Tuburan, we have to travel an hour to get here. It is a perfect spot to have our cravings satisfied.
It melts my heart knowing that some of my learners haven't eaten here and it is their first time tasting Jollibee, I know it may be a small thing to some people but for my learner it was already such an unforgettable experience and it was made more memorable since she first experience it here with her friends and me as their class adviser.
I ordered my Jollibee favorites, their fried chicken and a tub of their famous Filipino spaghetti. Everything just tasted so good paired with all the good stories and smiles my learners shared with me.
We had some photos after we had our dinner. Then,we decided to go to BALAMBAN PUBLIC PLAZA to walk around since we were so full. We saw a stall that sells mangoes with shrimp paste for ten pesos each and we bought some. We ate while we walked around BALAMBAN PUBLIC PLAZA.
I sometimes get allergeis due ton shrimp and shrimp paste but there are just times I cannot resist and eat it, it is a really good dessert after you eat a meal. The unripe mangoes are perfectly paired with the spicy shrimp paste and ten pesos is a good price for this.
We walked around BALAMBAN PUBLIC PLAZA and we could not help but appreciate the beauty of the town, especially that in Tuburan,we also do not have any public plaza just like this one.
Balamban Public Plaza is lit with colorful lights which will lead you the way as you walk around, and the stalls at the background of this photo is Balamban's Barbeque Plaza which I already wrote on a separate blog since we have already dined in here before also, which is a perfect spot for dinner, the barbeque are good tasting, paired with the famous hanging rice, and you will enjoy the view of the sea and enjoy the sea breeze.
To sum it all up, we took some photos on the famous WE LOVE BALAMBAN wall in their public plaza. We then headed back home to Tuburan safely and my learners thanked me for the quality time I spent with them. I also thanked them because every once in a while, I also need times like these, being able to go to different places, relax and enjoy. They took my stress all away. My learners are like my own children. I love them so much.
It was indeed a night to remember. Ciao! ❤️
