My partner worked for one of the biggest restaurants here in the Philippines. He has always had the love for cooking.
For our dinner, we craved for some steak. We wanted to pair it with the ready to cook mashed potato powder my father brought all the way from Germany.
Back when I was younger, my dad constantly brings these packs of ready to prepare mashed potato powder. He loves to eat some mashed potatoes with Filipino foods like menudo or kare kare.
Eating mashed potatoes has been a part of my history growing up. But since I am a Filipino, I still crave for rice and I eat it three times a day.
MASHED POTATO POWDER FROM GERMANY 🇩🇪
I honestly do not know what is the brand of this mashed potato powder because my dad brought this without the actual box with labels. This is mashed potato powder wherein you just have to add some salt, butter, and hot water to achieve the right mashed potato mixture. As easy as that.
Every time I can see mashed potatoes on fast food chains here in the Philippines, I can't stop thinking if we use the same powder or do they do the entire process of like peeling potatoes and mashing it.
For tonight's dinner, we will be using two packs of mashed potato powder. I prepared a bowl, then poured the mashed potato powder, added a pinch of salt, sliced some butter and added hot water. I mixed it well.
Every once in a while, I crave for mashed potatoes and I love to eat it with Filipino foods.
I was the one who prepared the mashed potatoes since it is very easy to make. My partner prepared our viand.
Last month, we found a beef steak in the SM Mall located in Cebu City which was really affordable, that is why we really craved for steak every once in a while since we have tasted a quality one for an affordable price.
We really wanted to have some beef steak since we have tried to buy some one time when we went to SM Mall in Cebu City, but since we did not have the chance to go to the mall, we used what was available in our refrigerator, pork chops.
We are now living in Tuburan, which is a small town located in the MidWest of Cebu Province and we do not have big groceries here. We can even rarely buy beef here. The ones most available are pork, chicken and fish.
My partner used butter to fry the pork chops, he also added some garlic on the side and he used rose mary powder as seasoning. As a previous cook, he really knows how to combine spices and achieve an expensive taste.
Their are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of him being a good cook. Advantages are I do not have to pay for expensive restaurants to achieve an expensive dining experience, I get to eat whatever I crave because he knows how to cook almost everything. But the disadvantage is that I am having a hard time going on a diet since he always serves good food.
