Hello, my dear hivers!

Today, I’m going to share with you our visit to the grave of my grandpa.

Because of the long weekend, some of my mom’s brothers came home to the province. Since many of them were around, we took the opportunity to go to the cemetery as a family. It had been quite some time since we last did so.

Let me walk you through how the day went. We bring two vehicles with us, while my uncle opted to ride his motorcycle as they had other errands afterward.

We bought flowers earlier and, on the way there, we also bought candles. My grandma, who is my mom’s wife, was with us in the car. She was the one who suggested we buy flowers, and of course, she called our older brother who was in the other car to buy Jollibee for grandpa.

When we arrived, it was still drizzling, but thankfully, we got there safely. We were able to find shelter, so there was nothing to worry about. When we arrived, my uncle, who was on the motorcycle, and the car had not yet arrived.

While waiting, my companions were chatting about life. As for me, I took the chance to get closer to the grave of my grandpa because I really missed him.

I hadn’t been able to visit for months due to my previous work schedule. Whenever the others would go, I couldn’t come along or ask for leave. That’s why this visit meant a lot to me — being able to visit him again and spend time at his resting place felt so comforting. Seeing his tomb brought back so many memories

A short while later, everyone finally arrived. We lit the candles and placed the Jollibee meal. Then, we started our prayer, which my mom led.

After the prayer, we took a picture together – something to look back on whenever we miss our grandpa.

Afterward, we went to do our usual “palina” — a traditional practice where we burn dried leaves to create smoke, then each of us steps over it before heading home. It’s something our family always observes after visiting the cemetery. Luckily, the leaves caught fire easily when my uncle lit them.

After the "palina," we headed to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal! I’ll be sharing more about our trip there in my next blog.

That’s all for now! Thanks for reading, my dear hivers!
