Going out to the streets of my town to take pictures during a hot afternoon with intense sunlight, is something I only do on very rare occasions. For anyone who likes to take street photos, it is well known that the lighting conditions on days like this are difficult to manage when capturing the photo and even later when editing on our PC, even when we work in RAW format and we have used some kind of polarized filter placed on our lenses.
Salir a las calles de mi pueblo a hacer fotografías durante una tarde calurosa y con luz solar intensa, es algo solo hago en muy contadas ocasiones. Para todo aquél que guste de hacer fotos callejeras es bien sabido que las condiciones lumínicas en días así, son algo difícil de gestionar al momento de capturar la foto e inclusive después al momento de editar en nuestro PC, aún cuando trabajemos en formato RAW y hallamos usado algún tipo de filtro polarizado colocado a nuestros objetivos.

But it happens that, in recent days we have had long periods without electricity in the village (yes, here in Venezuela that happens and blackouts can last up to 12 hours) So the inhabitants are forced to modify our routines to adapt to these problems .... And this is the reason why I have gone out during several sunny and hot afternoons to take street photos!....
Pero acontece que, en días recientes hemos tenido largos periodos sin electricidad en el pueblo (sí, aquí en Venezuela sucede eso y los apagones pueden durar hasta 12 horas) Entonces los habitantes nos vemos obligados a modificar nuestra rutinas para adaptarnos a este problemas... ¡Y debido a esto se debe el que yo haya salido durante varias tardes soleadas y calurosas a hacer fotos callejeras!...

I have to admit that, despite the unbearable brightness, I've had a lot of fun taking pictures during the afternoons and have learned some new things to manage sunlight and reflections. I guess this is a good thing and typical of when we "get out of our comfort zone as photographers"...
Tengo que reconocer que, a pesar de la insoportable luminosidad, he estado bastante divertido haciendo fotografías durante las tardes y ha aprendido algunas cosas nuevas para gestionar la luz solar y los reflejos. Imagino que esto es algo bueno y típico de cuando "salimos de nuestra zona de confort como fotógrafos"...

The possibilities are diverse and range from underexposing the image in a "dramatic" way, taking advantage of the shadows of high facades and trees, to doing crazy things like "waiting 15 minutes under the embracing sun for a cloud to pass and cast a shadow over the street"... Anything is valid as long as it serves to achieve the desired photo!... Besides, the streets during the afternoon without electricity has a "special touch" different from my usual mornings of street photography, I perceive that in many of these photos...
Las posibilidades son diversas y van desde sub-exponer la imagen deforma "dramática", aprovechar las sombras de alta fachadas y árboles, hasta hacer cosas tan locas como "esperar 15 minutos bajo el sol abrazador a que pase una nube y haga sombra sobre la calle"... ¡Todo es válido con tal sirva para logar la foto deseada!... Además, las calles durante tarde sin electricidad tiene un "toque especial" distinto a mis acostumbradas mañanas de fotografía callejera, eso lo percibo en muchas de estas fotos...
