We are at the end of May and in our valley in Montalbán (Venezuela) it has rained even more than expected. Then, as it usually happens in tropical regions, the landscape is dramatically transformed to the rhythm of the continuous downpours which make that where there were embankments, trees with bare branches and even traces of a fire, now everything is filled with the intense green of the renewed foliage with an overwhelming power. All this happens in a few weeks and will last until mid-October, when the rains start to decrease and the yellows and ochers start to slowly return to start again the annual weather cycle... This post is made with pictures I took this week during a hike in the hills west of town, which I was finally able to visit again taking advantage of a morning of relatively good weather...
Estamos al final de Mayo y en nuestro valle en Montalbán (Venezuela) ha llovido incluso más de lo esperado. Entonces, tal como es usual que suceda en las regiones tropicales, el paisaje se transforma de manera dramática al compás de los continuos aguaceros que hacen que donde había terraplenes, árboles con ramas desnudas e incluso rastros de algún incendio, ahora todo se llene de los verdes intensos del follaje renovado con una potencia sobrecogedora. Todo esto sucede en unas pocas semanas y durará hasta mediados de Octubre, cuando comienzan a disminuir las lluvias y los amarillos y los ocres comienzan a regresar lentamente para iniciar otra vez el ciclo climático anual... Esta publicación está hecha con fotografías que hice esta semana durante una caminata en las colinas al Oeste del pueblo, a las cuales finalmente pude volver a visitar aprovechando una mañana de relativo buen clima...
In the lower valley the fog makes the sky almost always whitish. It is 7:00 AM when I started this walk and the sunlight is still not warm enough to start evaporating the fog. Personally, I like to take pictures here during the dry season, when the landscape is more dramatic and you can appreciate more elements, shapes and details, which are now hidden by the foliage and the predominance of green in the vegetation. However, I have to admit that the views at this time of the year are also enchanting...
En el valle bajo la niebla hace que el cielo sea casi siempre blanquecino. Son las 7:00 AM cuando comencé este paseo y aún la luz solar no es lo suficientemente cálida para comenzar a evaporar la niebla. Personalmente, me gusta más hacer fotografías aquí en plena época de sequía, cuando el paisaje es más dramático y se pueden apreciar mayor cantidad de elementos, formas y detalles, los cuales ahora oculta el follaje y la predominancia del color verde en la vegetación. Sin embargo, tengo que reconocer, que las vista en esta época del año también son encantadoras...
At the beginning of the ascent, the presence of dense and fresh vegetation on both sides of the road takes a leading role. This simplifies the landscape and makes it necessary to take advantage of lines, vanishing points and contrasts to take photographs with the greatest possible visual impact. However, nature developing at its fullest is always present in every place I look at... The fog also helps to make the simple sight of the dirt road winding its way upwards a delightfully eloquent image.
Al comenzar el ascenso, la presencia de vegetación densa y fresca a ambos lados del camino cobra un papel protagónico. Esto hace que el paisaje se simplifique y haya que aprovechar líneas, puntos de fuga y contrastes para hacer fotografías con el mayor impacto visual posible. Sin embargo, la naturaleza desarrollándose a sus anchas es siempre algo presente en todo lugar hacia donde dirijo la mirada... La niebla también colabora para que la simple visión del camino de tierra serpenteando en ascenso, se convierta en una imagen deliciosamente elocuente.
Suddenly, the fog begins to dissolve and an enchantingly blue sky can be seen revealing itself among its last wisps... A few minutes later, mountain peaks also appear on the horizon and the presence of green color is accompanied by wonderful blues and whites... Due to the intense light, the contrast is somewhat complex to handle. But with a little skill you can take interesting pictures that reflect the atmosphere of this time of the year in our valley.
Repentinamente, la niebla comienza a disolverse y un cielo encantadoramente azul puede ser visto revelándose entre sus últimos girones... Pocos minutos después también aparecen las cumbres de las montañas en el horizonte y la presencia del color verde se ve acompañada por azules y blancos maravillosos... Debido a la intensa luz, el contraste en algo complejo de manejar. Pero con un poco de habilidad se pueden hacer fotografías interesantes y que reflejen como es el ambiente en esta época del año en nuestro valle.
When the temperature and humidity start to rise along with the sunlight, it becomes a bit more difficult to deal with the heat, the sweat and some mosquitoes that seem to have woken up and whose bites are really painful. So I decide to return, but I do it taking with me a lot of very interesting photos, which I later enjoyed editing on my PC... Oh, and by the way, I will leave you four additional photos (see below) which I took in wooded areas along the route. I edited these photos with generous use of shadows and vignettes, so they look quite dramatic in my opinion... These photos are part of a pre-test for a project I plan to do by visiting the interior of denser forests this rainy season...
Cuando la temperatura y la humedad comienzan ascender junto con la luz solar, se hace un poco más difícil lidiar con el calor, el sudor y algunos mosquitos que parecen haberse despertado y cuyas picaduras son realmente dolorosas. Así que decido retornar, pero lo hago llevándome conmigo un montón de fotos muy interesantes, las cuales posteriormente disfruté editar en mi PC... ¡Ah! y por cierto, os dejaré cuatro fotos (ver abajo) adicionales que hice en áreas boscosas del recorrido. Edité estas fotos con generoso uso de sombras y viñetas, así que lucen bastante dramáticas a mi parecer... Estas fotos forman parte de un ensayo previo para un trabajo el cual tengo planeado realizar visitando el interior de bosques más densos en esta temporada lluviosa...
