Going through my photos as I wrap up the Taylors Mistake - Godley Head hike, I realized I left out photos that fit into yesterday's post about World War II.

So, the next seven photos ๐Ÿ“ธ give us more insight into New Zealand's reaction to World War II. It is important to know the purpose of the guns at Godley Head is not defend Christchurch but to protect Lyttelton harbor. My guess is Lyttelton port is of high significance for Christchurch, something I am yet to educate myself about.

With the WW II discovery out of the way. We decided to return via a different track, we looked on the track ๐Ÿ‘ฃ map and saw a couple of loops, so we decided to give it a go, and besides, we get to see more scenic views.

Mechanics Bay gorgeously emerged after a few minutes of walking. It was another breathtaking and amazing views that always makes me wonder why New Zealand ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ is so beautiful ๐Ÿ˜

It wasn't long before the weather started to get cloudy, windy with slight cold. We both were without warm clothes since the weather was so bright and warm when we started our walk.

We continued on a track ๐Ÿ‘ฃ that faded into farm land, it left us concerned we might have missed the track, so we retraced and returned to the map but from the map it showed we were on the right track ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

We decided to do a double up/shortcut ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. Looking back I think the change of weather really made us uneasy, it looked like it was going to rain any moment, and we were on top of a hill.

Luckily the shortcut helped us but further up the track we saw that if we had kept on with the track that we thought was wrong, we were actually going to be right and would have save ourselves 10 to 15 minutes of trying to find the right track ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ˜€

The lesson learned was to always carry warm clothes, so I've actually bought a hiking bag ๐ŸŽ’ for carrying extra stuff when I go for walks like this. We checked the weather forecast that day, and it showed it was going to rain later in the afternoon, so I aimed to get the walk done before the rain.

It eventually rained that day, but luckily, we made it down and were driving home when it started to rain ๐ŸŒง
