“Silver Adventures”- Captain Joshua Slane – 24NO21- 'Aye, we know. It's all over the ship!'
⛵ ⛵ ⛵ ⛵...(Tour of "High Island")...
[Last time...]
The captain staggered back, dropping his bag as he did! Shock and dread spread over his face as he finally recognized the voice!
“Nae! no….no, nae!”
As the covers fell to the floor the captain opened his eyes and the familiar dark oak planking of his great cabin slowly came into focus. His chest heaved and he trembled in a cold sweat!
“Nae- Gawd no….och- nae!” He mumbled as he sat up quickly and set a lantern. Jumping up, he ran to his desk and thumbed through the ship’s log…..
“Seven hunder an' twintie-seven…Och Gawd- we’re sae far behin'!”

[On the Silverton...the seamen's bunkhouse...]
“Come on, out with it!” Petty Officer Sg-community ordered as the seaman glanced at one another in hesitation. “Alright Sairrr, but we mean no trouble…” Seaman Arcange started, “There’s a rumor going through the crew, and it’s got us plenty worried …” Standing Officer Ev3 glanced at Sg and raised an eyebrow, “What kind of rumor lad?” “Well, Sairrr, the men have been sayin’…. that there’s a huge fall to the west…a hundred and sixty feet…Sairrr.” “I see.” Ev3 replied calmly as he sat down on a bunk and motioned for the rest to sit as well, “We know about this rumor.” “You knows?!” Seaman Ewsflash exclaimed in surprise. “Aye, we knows…” Sg added, removing her hat, “It’s all over the ship.” “And Lieutenant Errislravenhill knows as well.” Ev3 clarified. “So…what is to be done about it?” Seaman Gunthertopp asked, holding his hands open in a questioning gesture. “So far as I know, nothing yet. But I will bring it up with Cockpit Officer Andofzara in the morning. Officer Errisl may have spoken to him.
“Sairrr…I have a family…it’s one thing to die in battle, I accept that, but dying in a fall…well, I see no honor in that!” Seaman Herising said in great sincerity. “I think we all agree on that Lad…” Ev3 said as he stood up, “But for now, it’s best to get some sleep. We’ll find out more in the morning.”
[Irondequoit…in town…] "Quel âne incompétent!" The younger man said as he poured the rest of his ale into his mouth and swallowed, “And this horse-piss! Don’t any of these colonists know how to make wine?!” (Translated)
The older man smiled briefly and then gazed off across the room filled with trappers, farmers and whores, “Patience Captain Monet, and keep your French down..." "You’ll get your hands on the wheel of that ship! And when you do, we’ll hunt that bastard Scot down and ambush him and his crew! He cannot get out off this lake without sailing east!” “What do you know about him? And why is it that France is willing to pay so much to get him?”
Caporal Chief leaned forward a bit...“I know much…but I tell you this...the whole of France has a price on his head! And she will not rest until Slane hangs!”
The younger man raised his eyebrows and set his glass down on the table-top…”We will need fighting men; the Corvette is lightly gunned.” “I am not a sailing man my friend, that is your job. But I am a soldier. We will have fighting men, thirty strong…just as soon as we leave this God forsaken ricain town!”
“Let’s hope it’s just a week! My land-legs aren’t that good!”
