Today I had a wonderful Mother's Day in beautiful weather.
Our son prepared a cool scavenger hunt for me and I received a voucher as a treasure.
Of course, flowers were also a must on this day.
Heute habe ich bei schönstem Wetter einen wunderbaren Muttertag verlebt.
Unser Sohn hat mir eine coole Schnitzeljagd vorbereitet und als Schatz gab es einen Gutschein.
Blumen durften an diesem Tag natürlich auch nicht fehlen.
For lunch today, we had fresh asparagus with new potatoes, ham and hollandaise sauce to celebrate the day.
As we live on the edge of a large asparagus-growing area, you can't avoid asparagus in this region. Even in smaller towns, you can usually find several asparagus stalls that are also open on Sundays. As the asparagus season is quite short, I also like to enjoy this delicious vegetable. My husband thinks that it tastes quite neutral and only scores with the side dishes. Somehow he's right, but it's all about the combined taste anyway, and it's delicious. I prefer the standard version as shown in the photo. I like to cook the asparagus wrapped in aluminum foil in the oven. This way it retains its full flavor and is still tender as butter.
Zum Mittagessen gab es heute zur Feier des Tages frischen Spargel mit Frühkartoffeln, Kernschinken und Sauce Hollandaise.
Da wir am Rande eines großen Spargelanbau-Gebietes wohnen, kommt man in dieser Region nicht um den Spargel herum. Selbst in kleineren Städten findet man meist mehrere Spargelstände, die auch am Sonntag geöffnet haben. Da die Spargelsaison recht kurz ist, erfreue auch ich mich gerne an diesem leckeren Gemüse. Mein Mann findet, dass er recht neutral schmeckt, und nur durch die Beilagen punktet. Irgendwie hat er auch recht, aber es geht ja sowieso um den kombinierten Geschmack, und der ist nun mal lecker. Bei mir am Liebsten in der Standard Version wie auf dem Foto. Zubereiten tue ich den Spargel gerne in Alufolie gewickelt im Ofen. So behält er sein volles Aroma und wird trotzdem butterzart.
In the afternoon, we had a visit from my mother, who we invited over for coffee and cake. All in all, it was a lovely and informal Mother's Day. I think that mothers are paid tribute to far too rarely, so Mother's Day is a great opportunity to celebrate them. I was delighted to see the many children in the neighborhood visiting their mothers with bouquets of flowers in their hands. Of course, the flower stores also benefited greatly from this day ;) I hope you also had a wonderful Mother's Day :)
Am Nachmittag hatten wir dann noch Besuch von meiner Mutter, die wir zu Kaffee und Kuchen eingeladen haben. Alles in allem ein rundum schöner und familiärer Muttertag. Ich finde, dass die Mütter viel zu selten gehuldigt werden, daher ist so ein Muttertag ein schöner Anlass, die Mütter zu feiern. Mit Freude habe ich die vielen Kinder in der Nachbarschaft registriert, die mit Blumensträußen in der Hand ihre Mütter aufgesucht haben. Die Blumenläden haben natürlich auch sehr von diesem Tag profitiert ;) Ich hoffe, Ihr hattet auch einen schönen Muttertag :)
