Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you are having a great time. This will be *Week 172, Edition 01 of our Weekly Featured Content.

So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week, which is “A BROKEN PROMISE”.

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic, which was “SOCIAL MEDIA CALL-OUT”.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us their thoughts on social media and the freedom of expression. We live in a world where the things you post online can be used as a reason to dismiss a person from a job or expel them from school. This is something that is seen to happen more times than can be counted.

We got to see that there were various reasons where such acts could be justified, seeing how organizations and institutions have various policies, and members who post content online that is contrary to such policies might be dealt with stringently. Not everyone agreed with this idea, because everyone should have the right to say their mind, regardless of their work or academic life. It was an enlightening topic, indeed.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w171e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there, it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors, will be listed below.

DRAWING THE LINE by @hopestylist

This author told us that such issues need to be handled carefully, due to their fragile nature. It won’t be fair to simply dismiss a person due to a post they made without first giving them a chance to plead their case. Such situations might require second chances, so justice can be tempered with mercy.

VOICES SILENCED OR PROTECTED by @xlety

For this author, in social media, the line between public and private matters gets blurred. It can be easy for something made to address one thing, get misinterpreted into something else, and that misinterpretation could go on to be headlines. There has to be a clear line between preserving reputation and stifling thought. And in cases like these, there is no ‘one size fits all’.

THE PRICE OF HAVING AN OPINION @michupa

For this author, he told us that even though freedom of expression is a right enjoyed by citizens, many people tend to suffer for it when they express it in certain ways. Social media should be a place where people can have a voice, and it shouldn’t be somewhere where the things you say would be used to cause major life changes in a job or school.

All of the above contents were supported by our official curation account lazy-panda with an extra amount. The first 3 authors will receive 100 ECENCY Points [ Sponsored By Ecency Team (@melinda010100) ] and 1 $PANDAMINER each as a reward next Monday. These posts were selected because of their special attention to detail and how they followed the topic. There were a lot of good ones out there, but we just could not pick them all.

But then, we have some honorable mentions listed below:

THE LIMITS OF FREEDOM by @ladyaryastark

ARE YOU CAREFUL ABOUT SHARING THINGS ABOUT YOUR SERVICE? MEMES? REVIEWS? by @shiftrox

VOICES BEHIND THE SCREEN: SHOULD THEY BE DISMISSED? by @princessbusayo

These are posts that were also found to be quite exceptional.
