I left Ho Chi Minh City the same way I arrived, walking more or less the same route back to the airport.
Actually that was an important part of the trip, I wanted to know how I'd do on the ground in Saigon, which is quite different from Da Nang, Hanoi or especially the tourist beaches.
Why? Well I need to have options just in case, you never know what happens...
There are small streets like this one going almost all the way to the airport. Once again people were curious about who I might be, but it was also more mixed than the residential areas I visited the first day.
Perfect, a dog sitting down in a good spot for a good image! Now all I need to do is bark a little so that he turns his head...
That did not work with this guy haha! So his face is not sharp, I had to move away from him right away hehe...
Some of these tiny streets are both narrow and full of all sorts of people & traffic!
There was a mix of everything really, all sorts of shop, but actually less restaurants and food stalls. I guess most simply go to the main, broad boulevards when they need to eat.
The traffic here at some main road closer to the airport was moving more rapidly, and there were more monotonous stretches.
This market was really huge, might be worth checking out if I return!
There is a really nice park with huge trees not too far from the airport! That was a perfect place to stop for some water, then onwardsF
At the far end of the park there was also some sort of farming tradition space, or perhaps some sort of demonstration area for other types of projects?
There was some heavy work going on at the corner of the park, probably main water lines or something like that.
And that was the last image I got walking to the airport, perhaps that is a fitting end with a couple of workers doing traditional & industrial work?
Vietnam is of course not what it was 4-5 decades ago, but regardless of that one thing is certain: everyone seem to be industrious, working and collaborating, and all of this huge city works well, on its own terms and with motorbikes as perhaps the most important ingredient 🙂
And that was the trip to Saigon!
