Nowadays the focus seems to be to stop burning fossil fuels. However, there is nothing more energy dense than a fossil fuel. Except one thing: nuclear energy. The amount of energy contained in a weight unit of uranium is enormous.

The problem with nuclear energy is that it is too expensive due to its actual risks, the cost of building the plants and the waste disposal. In the end the sum of all those liabilities made the energy obtained from it almost not worth it. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima and reminders of the huge risks.

Now, with the stronger push to phase out the fossil fuels, nuclear is making a come back. The price of uranium is increasing due to increased demand. It looks like new approached to handle risk, construction costs and waste management are going to make nuclear energy the main energy of the future.
