Sometimes when buying a second hand ring you have to put in a little work and decide if it is worth cleaning up or just scrapping, todays little purchase is a little unusual as it is white gold surrounded to to bands of yellow gold with gem stones all around. The ring is made by Slade & Wolfe and is from 1961 so it is 60 years old and i believe it was hallmarked in London but this is a little too worn to be certain.

As you can see the inside of the ring is a little manky to say the least with little bits of dead skin and scuff marks and the outside appears matted and this is where i decided that it was worth cleaning as it is a really pretty ring.

First thing i did was use my polishing wheel with a bit of jewellers rouge polish which will smooth out any scratches and give it a nice shine, very little pressure was used.

The next step is too sonic clean the ring to remove any polishing compound and soften the dead skin, which i will remove with a wooden cocktail stick.

After spending some time picking out dead skin the ring is placed back into the sonic cleaner for a final few mins an then dried and hand polished.

As you can see the ring now looks sweet as a nut and will grace the hand of any lady, the time spend cleaning this ring is about 30 mins and is worth every second as this ring is now worth more than scrap and i will put a price tag of around £70.
