Andor - Season 2: Am I missing something here? I find this exceptionally boring

I'm a long time Star Wars fan. I gladly display my Star Wars shirts in public and I am not at all ashamed to say that I am a nerd when it comes to this sort of thing. Like a lot of Star Wars fans I have become a bit disenfranchised with what Disney has done to the various sagas as they seem to be dead-set on ruining everything.

So when I heard that Andor was getting good reviews I jumped at the chance figuring, Ok, I'll give them One, last, chance.

I didn't really know what to expect walking into this and I also was unaware of the fact that I was in fact, watching season 2 when it started going. I guess I was distracted while it was booting up and didn't pay very much attention.

I will say this: The series does a very good job of not leaving you completely lost and even though I have only watched 1 and a half episodes I don't think that the backstory in season 1 is all that necessary.

But here the thing is with me: Aside from the opening sequence where our hero whose name I cannot be fussed with remembering, is stealing TIE fighter. This was amazing for anyone who was a fan as a child because I have always been fascinated with this starcraft so seeing the interior workings as they are imagined in modern times, was pretty damn cool

Of course we also had a few scenes with Stormtroopers being as useless as ever and I'll take this time to state that I really wish that Disney, since they are basically running to the beat of their own drum anyway, would get some troopers out there that are actually worth a damn. The days of them being cannon fodder who can't hit anything has gotten old a long time ago.

Anyway, that part of the show was a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but unfortunately that is just the first 10 minutes or so and then I was subjected to what felt like 20 minutes of committee meetings that reminded me how much I hate corporate jobs.

I will admit that I am extremely picky about what I will watch. I tire of series very quickly if they don't grab me and hold me in the action especially in the first episode but this entire sequence of whatever the hell is going on here bored me to tears. I actually contemplated reading a book rather than watch it.

However, I realize that I am very fast to rush to judgement on a lot of things. Let's keep in mind that if you don't know me I am the guy that stopped watching Game of Thrones in episode 2, told me friends it should be called "Game of Pointless Conversation" and only went back to give it a second try because my friends were adamant that I was making a bad choice but not giving it a shot. Turns out they were correct and it ended up being one of my favorite series of all time except for the final season - which sucked.

Getting back to Andor, I'll say that I really want to like this, but am struggling to stay in the story which, based on the amount of talking and near complete lack of action, seems as though it is probably going to be pretty important for me to take note of what is going on.

At the moment there seems to be 3 separate stories going on here, and they are going to intertwine at some point.

The visuals are great, the set pieces are good. They don't go nuts with CGI so things don't look overly fake or computer generated. These are all good things and maybe I am being too fussy about it all but I just have to be honest here, I'm bored.

So if someone out there can give me the necessary motivation to continue with this one, please give me a shout.

I'm just glad nothing has happened yet as far as Disney attempting to socially engineer the viewers yet, but I am not holding my breath on that one. No girl bosses (yet), no introduction of gay relationships, and no forced multicultural environs where the only stupid people are the white people. I'm not particularly optimistic that it is going to stay this way though, because this is still Disney were are talking about here.

I guess you could say that I don't really understand how something that I am seriously struggling to stay focused on has an over 90% rating on RT.

Help me out here folks!
