... as a range of wildlife pedestrians came in search of a meal.
First up was a small flock of Cape Sparrows, searching for insects and seeds.
They were on the lawn at the front of our house, and I had to carefully hide behind a small thorn tree, that the previous tenants planted next to our driveway gate. The amazing thing was that as every car that passed by in the road, did not bother them. It's not a busy road, and that was one of the reasons why we bought this house, as we had our fill of traffic noise when we stayed up north in a big city. So, a rural town was our first priority, and we are so glad that we at last found a peaceful spot. A place with big mountains, farms, and the sea close by.

The thing that we don't like about the sparrows is that when they feed their babies, then they catch our baby dwarf geckos. I have watched the sparrows for a long time, and now in their nonbreeding season, they leave the geckos alone. They now have set hours when they come to feed, mostly morning and late afternoon, but during the breeding time, they appear at any time, as the babies have to be fed every half hour.
Finally, a cute little youngster, and a cloudburst by the sun with beautiful rays.
It has been raining here often these days, but only soft rain that is not enough to fill the dams. This morning at a charity meeting, everyone was discussing and praying for rain, real heavy rain, especially on the mountains in the dam water catchment areas. I know that a few hours of heavy rain can fill most of the dams, and so we just have to hope for the best. One of my grievances here is that so many tons of water run into the sea, and a plan has to be made to gather the runoff into new dams. But enough of my moaning and let me rather stick to the post of today. After the morning meeting, we returned here, and while my wife switched the kettle on for some coffee, I nipped out to take the pictures. Soon the coffee was ready, and I came in to download this onto my PC from the camera. So, at some times when you don't know what to post, simply nip out with your camera, and just maybe you will be surprised at something waiting for you :))
Such is life.
