Khicuri - a mixture of rice, lentils, and different spices- is our soul food. It is always served warm, sometimes mixed with other vegetables, and served with various sides. Not only does it taste good when it's homecooked, but some food shops also serve it so well that it enriches the taste of any meal.

This is the type of 'Khicuri' we have tasted on a fine winter evening.

This place is located in front of the City Corporation market, Rangpur- Bangladesh.

The food shops may seem like temporary but they have been in business for many years. It's an open-air food place in front of the market, famous for the Khicuri and some other traditional snacks and meals.

These foods are only available from afternoon to Midnight. So during the evening, it's the peak hour, you will get to see a lot of crowd of the foodies.

The best thing about this place is, that all the foods are freshly made, very very cheap. By cheap I mean, they only cost from $.10 - $3. You will get a full-course meal under $3.

We ordered the popular Khicuri, with some lentil fritters, and fish mash. They served it with some green sauce/chutney and cucumber too.

It's a simple meal but very flavourful. The lentil fritters were very crunchy and spicy, complementing the subtle taste of the Khicuri. The green Chutney and the fish mash were adding such a kick to the whole meal.

We paid only $.30 for this whole meal. Isn't it surprising?

Also, you can add Beef Tripe with your Khicuri. This is not my thing but my cousins were saying it was very tasty too. They paid $.40 for this meal.

Also, you can add scrambled eggs to the meal too.

These are some available snacks at the place.

The upper left one is a kind of rice cake called Chitoi Pitha. Only costs $.10. The upper right is Deshi-style noodles and chicken fries. The lower left is lentil fritters. You can enjoy the sides separately if you want. And the lower right one is our famous deep-fried Pakoras and Desh-style buns with fried items.

Don't worry about the price because the snacks are usually $.10-$.50 and a full meal is around $2-$3(with meat). So just enjoy!

We went with our cousin's gang. So you can guess the chit-chat, the laughter we had with the good food. Although this place doesn't offer any seating arrangements, who cares? We enjoyed the time anyway.

When the food fulfills not only the stomach but also your heart, then you don't complain about any other thing, right?
