Of course the best time to post on Hive was the last 18 months.....

I had a feeling once the Hive Price saw some positive action that we'd get a lot of posts focussing on 'how Hive is changing lives', and, lo, they are manifesting, quite literally, like this post about how Hive is 'literally changing lives' or this one about how Hive is bringing Prosperity to People.

And there is clearly a lot of excitement about the Hive price - @daltono points out that Hive now makes him more than his day job, and @niallon11 recently mused about the prospect of going full time on Hive.

And people who stopped posting a while ago are [coming back](Hello Again ), and others posting about what they bought with their Hive rewards.

But NOW isn't the best time to post on Hive!

At least some of the above people know this....

That the best time to post on Hive was the last 18 months, when very few people were posting and so every post earned you a greater proportion of Hive from the Reward Pool.

OK, for most of the last 18 months Hive has been worth < $1, for quite a chunk of that time it was worth less than < $0.50, but had you been posting while the prices were low then you would have been earning more HIVE and HP than now, because the rewards pool was shared out between fewer people....

And if you had been converting your HBDs (like I did) into Hive, you would have got, MORE HIVE.

And had you Powered that Up you'd now have MORE HIVE POWER and a big fat upvote worth a few dollars, and be earning $1 or more per click of the mouse, AND probably larger upvotes on your posts because you've previously proved your faith in the network.....

There are a handful of people on here (a couple of thousand maybe) that have kept the faith and kept posting during the down times and Powered Up and reaped the benefits... Kudos to them, Kudos to anyone who resisted the urge to sell off cheaply and Power Down, Congrats.

Knee-Jerk Posting only when the Hive Price is High Makes No Sense...

Of course you can still, possibly, earn decent money on Hive by posting now, when the price is on the rise.

But this just strikes me a bit of a short-sighted, short-term knee-jerk way of going about things....

Firstly it's a bit shallow... presumably if you only post when the Hive price is going up, you're not a regular blogger - hence why you don't want to 'waste' your time risking earning when Hive is low.

At least it's obvious - and easy enough for me to avoid upvoting such people, I'd just rather vote for regular bloggers, people who blog anyway irrespective of the Hive Price.

Final Thoughts...

Of course you're entitled to do as you please when it comes to posting on Hive, and cash out when you please, and maybe I'm just lucky.... I like blogging so I've been able to benefit from the peak-earning period prior to this in Hive terms, and I haven't needed to spend my rewards so I've powered them up.

And now I'm reaping the benefits.

But note to knee-jerk posters - as far as the blogging aspect of this blockchain goes - maybe just try writing for the sake of writing for the sake of the writing, not the money, power something up and don't cash out as you go, it's much more satisfying than just writing for the cash, and (ironically) you'll probably earn more anyway if you take the authentic approach!
