In Cuba, as many know, it is very common to see these cars -some with more than 60 years of manufacture- rolling on the streets. They are very eye-catching for tourists and still absolutely useful, especially given the poor state of the country's road infrastructure.
These cars are popularly known as almendrones, since most of them, echoing the design of their era, have a rounded roof reminiscent of the shape of an almond. It is a curious and endearing nickname that is now part of everyday language. We could say that they are true rolling marvels: some are spectacularly preserved and painted with striking designs that jump out at you.
Here I bring you some of the most beautiful ones I've seen rolling around the city.

En Cuba, como muchos saben, es muy común ver estos autos —algunos con más de 60 años de fabricación— rodando por las calles. Son muy llamativos para los turistas y aún absolutamente útiles, especialmente dado el mal estado de la infraestructura vial del paÃs.
Estos autos son conocidos popularmente como almendrones, ya que la mayorÃa, haciendo eco del diseño de su época, tiene un techo redondeado que recuerda la forma de una almendra. Es un apodo curioso y simpático que ya forma parte del lenguaje cotidiano. PodrÃamos decir que son verdaderas maravillas rodantes: algunos están espectacularmente conservados y pintados con diseños llamativos que saltan a la vista.
