Sunken Treasure is a Commemorative gaming token from Princess Cruises. Yes, there are casinos in cruise ships!
This was the very first token I purchased, primarily for the design.
The center of this bi-metallic strike is .999 silver HSP (Hallmark Silver Plating) and it is slightly larger than a Morgan Dollar.
HSP stands for Hallmark Silver Proof1, which is a designation given to some silver tokens that have a high quality of minting and a mirror-like finish. The Sunken Treasure token is one of the commemorative gaming tokens from the Luxury Cruise series, which features a sunken ship and a mermaid guarding her sunken treasure. The token has a bimetallic composition, with a silver (.999) center in a copper ring, and weighs 28 grams. It is a rare and collectible item that was issued in limited numbers.
Sunken treasure? After countless years of looking for lost ships with what were reportedly their valuable cargo of gems, pearls, money, and more, certain treasures have been discovered or have become legends. Many famous and valuable jewels come from the galleons or armadas of Spain and Portugal because of their wealth in the 16th and 17th centuries and their ambition to explore and conquer new areas.
Not all sunken ships and treasures have been found. As a result, explorers now value them even more.
Despite all of the sunken treasures that archaeologists have discovered... all of the different pirate tales you heard growing up, as well as the stories of undiscovered treasure, as well as the jewels and gold that have been said to be hidden by legendary pirates like Blackbeard and Montezuma from the ancient Aztec empire. There are still a lot of sunken ships, cities, and wealth out there that archaeologists haven't even begun to explore!
