Saludos, a todos los cinéfilos de esta comunidad. Sé que muchas personas detestan los musicales, no es mi caso, pero entiendo que a muchos no les guste. La reseña que les voy a compartir a continuación ea algo que ya estamos acostumbrados a ver pero contados de una manera más creativa: Better Man.

Greetings, to all the cinephiles of this community. I know that many people hate musicals, not me, but I understand that many don't like them. The review I'm going to share with you below is something we are already used to see but told in a more creative way: Better Man.

Better Man

El protagonista de esta historia es un simio, probablemente sacado directamente de "El planeta de los Simios” o simplemente tenga una historia más profunda que les comentaré a continuación. El real protagonista de este Biopic es la estrella Pop sexy y descarada: Robbie Williams, que narra toda la trayectoria de su carrera, desde que incursiona en el mundo musical dentro de la Boy Band Take That hasta que se lanza como solista. Así mismo, cuenta todos los vaivenes de su vida, incluyendo sus adicciones, las cuales fueron tan famosas como su carrera misma.

La taquilla de esta película fue un total fracaso, probablemente atribuido al hecho de que el cantante no es muy famoso. Lo que me parece muy extraño, porque conocí su música cuando era una adolescente a finales de los 90 y yo vivía en un pueblo recóndito del estado Bolívar. Algunas canciones como Angels, Rock Dj, o Millenium. Incluso haciendo el cover de We Will Rock You de Queen, que formó parte de la banda sonora de la película Corazón de Caballero, protagonizada por Heath Ledger. Al final, sabemos que muchas veces los números de taquilla no reflejan la calidad de las películas. En mi percepción, este es uno de sus casos.

The protagonist of this story is an ape, probably taken directly from “Planet of the Apes” or simply has a deeper story that I will discuss below. The real protagonist of this biopic is the sexy and sassy pop star: Robbie Williams, who narrates the entire trajectory of his career, from his foray into the musical world within the Boy Band Take That until he launches himself as a solo artist. It also tells all the ups and downs of his life, including his addictions, which were as famous as his career itself.

The box office of this movie was a total failure, probably attributed to the fact that the singer is not very famous. Which seems very strange to me, because I knew his music when I was a teenager in the late 90s and I lived in a remote town in the state of Bolivar. Some songs like Angels, Rock Dj, or Millenium. Even covering Queen's We Will Rock You, which was part of the soundtrack of the movie A Knight's Tale, starring Heath Ledger. In the end, we know that many times box office numbers do not reflect the quality of the movies. In my perception, this is one of their cases.

La decisión creativa de que el protagonista fuera un simio creado por CGI, pero con la voz de Robbie Williams sí tiene una razón. retrata la metáfora del Mono de Circo, ese que fue creado para generar entretenimiento sin importar lo que estuviera pasando el artista.

Quien conoce la carrera del cantante, sabe que Robbie es un egocéntrico. Algunos artistas deciden dejar sus memorias escritas en un libro, pero este no es el caso. La mejor manera de demostrar su egocentrismo fue produciendo una película de su vida. Desde mi punto de vista, fue una visión correcta y exitosa, porque por mucho que pareciera que quiere hablar de él, la manera de contar su historia va más allá de mostrar los procesos creativos, o de mostrar los intereses amorosos, o de ver como destruyen sus carreras al dejarse perder en el mundo de las drogas. En este caso, nos da todo lo que queremos saber sin ensalzar o suavizar los comportamientos de los protagonistas. Que es el problema de la mayoría de los Biopics.

The creative decision to have the protagonist be an ape created by CGI, but with the voice of Robbie Williams, does have a reason. It portrays the metaphor of the Circus Monkey, the one that was created to generate entertainment no matter what the artist was going through.

Anyone who knows the singer's career knows that Robbie is an egomaniac. Some artists decide to leave their memoirs written in a book, but this is not the case. The best way to show his egocentrism was to produce a movie of his life. From my point of view, it was a correct and successful vision. Because as much as it seems to want to talk about him, the way he tells his story goes beyond showing the creative processes, or showing love interests. Or seeing how they destroy their careers by letting themselves get lost in the world of drugs. In this case, it gives us everything we want to know without extolling or softening the behaviors of the protagonists. Which is the problem with most biopics.

Por cierto, es un musical, recuérdenlo. Pero la manera en que introduce el musical es simplemente un espectáculo, sobre todo porque es toda su música exitosa plasmada en una pantalla. A mí me pareció muy entretenida, nos dio todo, incluso una escena de batalla bastante épica. Deben tener en cuenta que es una película para mayores de edad, tiene escenas subidas de tono, así que no crean que porque hay un mono, lo pueden ver los niños. Mucho cuidado con eso.

Después de todo, la opinión es personal, a mí me gustó muchísimo porque además de ser fanática del artista, es una propuesta diferente con mucho arte visual. Esta manera de utilizar el CGI para poder contar una historia a lo largo de los años y utilizando la voz del artista es una nueva manera de ver este género. By the way, it's a musical, remember that. But the way he introduces the musical is simply a spectacle, especially since it's all his successful music captured on a screen. I thought it was very entertaining, it gave us everything, even a pretty epic battle scene. You must keep in mind that this is a PG movie, it has some racy scenes, so don't think that just because there's a monkey, kids can watch it. Be careful with that.

After all, the opinion is personal, I liked it a lot because besides being a fan of the artist, it is a different proposal with a lot of visual art.
