It's now Tuesday already in some parts of the world, and you know what that means – time to share some tunes for the brilliant #threetunetuesday initiative started by @ablaze!
This week we are crossing the water and listening a wonderful third wave ska band.
That band is The Toasters
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

Where to start!
Alrighty then, I love ska and it is my favourite musical genre. When I am exercising in the gym I usually put on some ska mixes on spotify,as was the case today!
On came a band that if you weren't knee-deep in the ska scene, that might have just skanked by your radar. The band in question is The Toasters.
While we are it ... Have you ever done the Skank?
When I was growing up, ska meant Madness on Top of the Pops or The Specials bringing proper social commentary.
But there's a whole world of skanking goodness out there that came afterwards and The Toasters were absolutely foundational to what is called "third-wave ska."
Hailing from the bustling concrete jungle that is New York City, The Toasters burst onto the scene way back in 1981. They're often considered one of the grandaddies of the American ska revival.
I asked gemini who were their influences?
Well, imagine if the raw energy of Jamaican ska (think The Skatalites, early Bob Marley) got together for a pint with the sharp, socially aware punk-infused sounds of British 2 Tone ska (The Specials, The Beat), and then decided to have a baby in a New York dive bar. That's The Toasters. They took that classic off-beat rhythm and injected it with their own brand of energetic, often humorous, and always danceable spirit. They were the flagship band for Moon Ska Records, basically the go-to label if you wanted to hear anything worth skanking to in the 90s. Legends, I tell ya!
Enough of my wittering, let's get some skanking done!

So today we have three tunes from The Toasters
These were fun tunes, and it shows you can have all sorts of un with music!
Tune 1 ~ The Toasters - Weekend in L.A. - 13 April 2012
This track was performed on Atak TV which I believe was a Dutch TV station? Maybe @stresskiller knows of it?
Weekend in L.A. was released in 1987 from the album Skaboom!
Listen to it... it's pure, unadulterated, feel-good ska.
One of the things I have always loved with ska is that infectious rhythm that just makes you want to get moving!
Don't say I didn't warn you 🤣
Next up we are fast forwarding 4 years to a song that was released in 1991.
Tune 2 ~ The Toasters - Talk is cheap
Did you hear that horn section! Now that's what I'm talking about with ska!
Just awesome and Talk is cheap was taken from their 1991 album New York Fever
And for our final tune we are staying on the album New York Fever, well I mean they were from New York afterall!
Tune 3 ~ The Toasters - 2 Tone Army
This is an anthem and homage to my favourite genre of ska.... 2 tone!
