It’s Easter time! And you know what that means...egg dyeing time! 🥚🎨
I love doing this, especially with my mom because she’s basically a pro. Seriously, she could write a book about it. But I haven’t done it in years… because guess what? I always had to work during Easter.

But this year—finally!—they let me be home, and there was NO question about it...we packed our bags and headed to Slovenia to see my parents. I couldn’t wait to be part of the Easter fun again and share this little piece of art with you.

One thing I always loved: my mom never used fake dyes. Nope. She’s all about tradition. Natural, old-school, grandma-approved methods. And I love that about her.
Also... I didn’t tell her I was coming home. So when she saw me...surprise! She was so happy. That hug? 10/10, would recommend.

I miss my parents a lot sometimes. You know that cozy feeling when you come home and the table is full of homemade food, and even if you say, “I’m not hungry,” they just don’t care? You must eat. Yeah. That. ❤️😄

I forgot how to do the whole egg-dyeing process (oops), but my mom jumped right in. She’s like, “Don’t worry, I’ll teach you,” and suddenly I’m 20 years old again. She loves being the teacher...and she’s so proud when she knows something I don’t. I’m still her baby. 😉
(And yes, I call her all the time to ask for recipes. That’s how you know she’s a good cook.)

Then guess what—my dad joined in too! 😲
I was shocked. My dad, in the kitchen, helping with Easter eggs? Wild. But cute! It was a real family moment...laughing, wrapping eggs, making a mess. I told them they’re both artists now. I was mostly taking pictures and pretending to help. 😆

Okay, okay, let me stop rambling and share my mom’s top-secret egg dyeing method with you. You won’t find this on Google. 😉

Egg dyeing with onion peels – Mom’s special recipe

What you’ll need:

Homemade eggs (store-bought will do too, but homemade = best)

Fruit tea (yes, tea!)

A glass of red wine (fancy, right?)

Salt and oil

How to do it:

Peel the onions and save the skins. Cut them into smaller pieces.

Soak the eggs in lukewarm water and roll them in the onion peels (they stick better when wet!).

Wrap the egg + peels in a piece of stocking and tie it up with string.

Fill a pot with water, add more onion peels, three fruit tea bags, and the glass of red wine. That’s the secret sauce!

Carefully place your wrapped eggs in and cook for 12–15 minutes.

After that, let them chill in the pot for about an hour.

Take them out, unwrap them gently, and rub them with oil for that shiny "wow" effect.

Doing this again with my family brought back all the warm fuzzies from childhood. It’s one of those traditions that makes you feel like home is wrapped around you, just like those little eggs in stockings. 🥰

They turned out beautiful—and okay, also delicious. I’m so ready for breakfast tomorrow!
The table will be full of goodies, and I’m going to eat everything without a single drop of guilt. It’s Easter, after all!

Today I’m fasting... but tomorrow? Game on. 😋😉

Now tell me...how do YOU dye your eggs? Got any secret tricks? Family recipes? Glitter explosions?

Share it with me! And wherever you are, I wish you a happy and colorful Easter! 💛🐰
Eat all the eggs. Hug your people. And make those memories!
