Hi Everyone,
After leaving Mt Fuji, we headed towards Hida, where we spent some time in the countryside, away from the main cities. Our hired car was great and we had our snow tires ready with a small additional fee. We had to order the car months ahead as these are normally popular during snow season and we didn't want to spend too much money on a big car, so we need to plan ahead.
The drive from Mt Fuji to Hida would be another 3 hours or so on normal grounds, so we expect it to be longer with the ice/snow roads. We stopped at different rest stops to buy drinks and food which we enjoy. These rest stops often sell their local delicacy so it is always great to see what is popular in the area. I always buy milk for the morning, Japanese milk is so much smoother than in Australia.
Once we started seeing some ice on the ground, everyone started to slow down with the car until we hit full snow ground, we were virtually driving at 20km/h. After 4 hours or so, we finally arrived at our accommodation.
