Hi Everyone,

There are endless markets in Bangkok like the famous Chatuchak Market or just a local small one just next to Siam Center. I have recently found a new one called SW1 Market at Sukhumvit Soi 12 close to Asoke BTS station. Just a short walk from BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit, this market can be a quick stop to get some snacks, drinks or check out local handcraft stores. It’s opened most days but I chose to go around late afternoon so I don’t need to be walking outdoors in the scorching heat.

The market consists lots of food stalls, ready to take home meals, fruits, vintage clothing, accessories and so on. It isn’t a big market so if you aren’t eating, won’t take you long to walk around the whole place.

Live music is played throughout the time. You can buy some food, a drink and sit down to enjoy some local music. It does get hot during the day so best to do this when the sun sets, avoid getting sunburn. It is still a relatively new market so not many tourists were there and maybe due to the size of this market, people won’t be too interested if they are looking for a particular item.

I live close by near Terminal 21 so it is a perfect stop for me to get a drink or some cheap market food. Just a few minutes walk from Asoke BTS and walk across over the bridge, you can spot the market on the right hand side.
