Now on with J. Geils Band
I saw them in the 1980ies and mainly head their music on parties - a US band that was created in 1967 already by J. Geils who unfortunatley is not amongst us anymore.
John "J." Geils was leading the project as guitar players and they focused on R&B-influenced blues rock before they achieved first commercial success in the 1980s.
They end of the band happened in 1985 (when Peter Wolf left) with the usual rock reunion later in 1999 until the death of J. Geils.
The most known song probably is "Centerfold" below but they did other remarkable stuff you will find in the following including a live concert after htei reunion.
What made them special?
Apart from J. Geils they had a great lead singer Peter Wolf - his voice and enthusiasm set them apart from others - I remember them as one of the best live bands i ever saw.
They combined:
-
Awesome Live Performances with high-energy concerts, often better than bigger headliners in the concert tours
-
Blues & R&B Roots always been in the centre even they became more rock commercial
-
Peter Wolf’s showmanship and energetic stage presence
-
Move from bar "cover" band to become a long standing successful rock act
